Candidates seeking the American Board of Medica Physics certification must pass Part I, Part II, and Part III of the ABMP exam. Part I focuses on the fundamental principles of medical health physics or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) science whereas Part II examines competence in clinical medical health physics or MRI physics. Students who wish to prepare for the ABMP exam should review the official examination information provided by the American Board of Medical Physics. Part III is an oral examination intended to test candidates' knowledge and fitness for the practice of medical physics or MRI physics. The ABMP Information Booklet provides up-to-date ABMP examination information with current curiculum.
ABMP web page presents a study guide/syllabus, which Atclyff tutors and instructors closely follow while teaching the ABMP exam material. Students who seek re-examination or recertification should dicuss an appropriate study plan for their ABMP prep. Group instruction or classroom courses may not be suitabe for such students; thus, an individualized tutoring plan may be recommended. When the maximum number of attempts has been reached, the ABMP candidate will need to reapply for all parts of the ABMP exam. Candidates should note the maximum number of unsuccessful attempts on the ABMP test so careful planning is imperative for repeat test-takers so as not to exhaust the opportunity to re-write only individual parts of the ABMP. Atclyff instructors will go over a tentative study plan and prep calendar during the initial complimentary conference and subsequently devise the optimal review syllabus for each ABMP candidate.
